The imports say Capitol on them. I'm sure that Capitol has offices in Japan, Holland, England. Why wouldn't they get royalties, especiall the post Terry Knight era? Since everyone's creative juices are flowing, I've got a question. I wish we had gotten more responses on the live albums, but there were a bunch. Let's separate the 2. What were the best GFR concerts you have seen. Rank the top few. What are the best non-GFR concerts you have seen, ranking the top few? Why were these so good that they stick out in your mind, and why was one better than the other? I have only seen 2 GFR concerts. These are their order. 1. Knoxville:may 98. Sunny said the dressing rooms were smelly, but the boys were smoking. There were no flaws in the playing or singing, and the sound system was good. I also saw the Roadkill t-shirts at this show. I wonder who was there at the Knoxville show, that told me about Roadkill. The band did the lineup of songs from the Bosnia CD. 2. St. Louis 98. There were a few problems with the sound system, and the boys shortened the set by taking out Lonliness. A great show, and I got to meet and hang out with some great guys like Larry McDaniel, and Brian Fish. And let me tell you, George Christopher may be Destitute and Losin', but not at a GFR show; he is singing and rockin' Best non-GFR show was the Rolling STones in Louisville in 89. More about these shows later. It's late and I am just too darned old. I will roll out a few memories about the non-GFR shows tomorrow. Let's see what everyone else will do. But Mark Farner's ballads, throughout the entire career of GFR, are as good as anybody's who has ever written a song in the rock/pop era. The man is truly a fine song writer. Thought some of you might get a kick out of a recent experience I had. I am the sales manager of the local Rock station. In August I called on a new record store that would be opening at the end of the month. Of course I asked if he would be carrying any Grand Funk CDs. He said no, but he could order them. So, I ordered Pheonix. Every time we spoke (a couple of times each week) I found an excuse to at least mention Grand Funk. He's been open for about 6 weeks now. Last week I go in to show him Discoveries and Goldmine. He says, "You've been bugging the hell out of me to stock Grand Funk. So, last week I ordered 10 and now they're all gone. Here's my supplier's catalog. You tell me which ones to order." So, we went through the list and put together an order for his store.....including the Live CD for me. It is happening folks! Hear is hear note, Week 1: No Winner I'm sorry to say that due to ballot box stuffing this week by several Grand Funk Railroad fans, Week 1 is being voided. Both bands will go back into the mix and be paired randomly in a future week of Round 3. If this occurs again, GFR will be totally disqualified from play. My apologies to the Moody Blues fans, as well as the honest, decent GFR fans that followed the rules. I'm sorry that a few ruined it for the rest. Next time GFR will be booted from the contest.
