When I said "Was he all that with his christian project? I don't think so," all I was trying to say was, Mark wasn't AS successful when he had the christian project. In this version of the hoax, the title of the e-mail is "Join the Crew." As usual, we have no reason to think that any actual disruptive e-mail (except the warnings themselves!) is circulating with this title, and we remind readers that in well-run mail systems simply opening a piece of mail does not run any program contained in it. On the other hand, of course, everyone should continue to be suspicious of unexpected programs received in the mail, and not run them. Help prevent Internet litter: do not forward hoax warnings to others, no matter how strenuously the warning itself urges you to. Just Say No... THESE TYPE OF MAIL "WARNINGS" ARE A FORM OF JUNK MAIL. Are you planning to be at the Little Rock Concert? I am. I looked up Robinson Center on the Little Rock web page and found that the seating is for fewer than 3,000 people. I hope only the the diest of die hards such as we, get tickets. For those of you who don't know about my "lyric pages" yet, the following is my interpretation and can be found at: http://w3.one.net/~wap/GFR_WEB/GFR_ALBUMS/PHOENIX/lyricTryingToGetAway.html -------------------------------------------------------------- Trying To Get Away I been out on the road and above in the air, I'm a long way from home but I just don't care. The dust from the road makes it dry in my mouth, When it's cold up north, that's when I head south. 'Cause I been tryin' to, tryin' to get away, yeah. Tryin' to, tryin' to get away, yeah. I passed through New York just the other day, The smog was bad but not as bad as L.A. Sometimes I wonder what the world's comin' to. Sometimes I wonder what I'm gonna' do. CHORUS 'Cause I been tryin' to, tryin' to get away, yeah. I been tryin' to, tryin' to get away, yeah. I been out on the road and above in the air, I'm a long way from home but I just don't care. The dust from the road makes it dry in my mouth, When it's cold up north, that's when I head south. Tryin' to, tryin' to get away. Tryin' to, tryin' to get away. Tryin' to, tryin' to get away. Tryin' to, tryin' to get away. CHORUS 'Cause I been tryin' to, tryin' to get away, yeah, yeah, yeah. -------------------------------------------------------------- I hope this helps. How long has it been now? We should have seen something by now. If they don't want to do it themselves, maybe they can put links to the major pages being run by some of the roadkill group. Just my thought. After all, I am sure those pages will be linked to the "official" page. Well gee-whiz ... you're welcome! All I can say is that it has been a wonderful year-and-a-half for me being a con- tact point for so many wonderful Funk fans. And, even though I really can't speak for them, I'm sure that Donna and Jeff feel much the same way. It really is a labor of love for me. When I searched the 'Net a couple of years ago, I was able to find nothing about Grand Funk Railroad. Well, okay, almost nothing. There were a couple of rock album-type sites that had "our boys" listed and a couple of (really bad) lyric transcriptions. And that's about all. Early last year, when the reunion rumors started solidifying and the Traverse City show started to appear as more than just a rumor, I made a decision. I told myself that if nobody else was going to put Grand Fink on the 'Net, then I would. So I learned enough HTML to do just that (BTW this is the reason that my pages aren't quite as "pretty" as others -- I still hand edit my pages with the vi editor and coordinate everything with my knowledge of the UNIX operating system -- I don't use any of those page- or site-creation programs that are widely available) and have been trying to add to and improve my site any chance I get. And, just when I thought I had something unique on the Web, I do another search and Donna Wightman had the same idea at about the same time. Jeff Cochran's page came online shortly there- after. I really don't expect anything in return (although a per- sonal appearance at my birthday party next month might be nice (quit grinning, Donna :-) )), I just hope that in some small way I have helped to "put the railroad back on track." And, all of the wonderful contacts I've made over the last year-and-a-half are just so much "icing on the cake!" (BTW, FYI: for those of you who weren't aware, Jeff Cochran has had to take his site down for personal and other reasons. He promises to come back bigger and better but you might want to drop him a line and encourage him a little.) As many of you who have interacted with me know, I have a ten- dency to get a little carried away when I write. So, before I make this another book, let me wrap up by saying "thank you" to all of the "roadkill"ers out there. Without your thoughts and support I know that I would have difficulty justifying all of the work that I've done. Grand Funk fans -- especially the roadkill crew -- are the best. Take care and, as I am often wont to say in closing, may you always grok in fullness. Keep Shinin' On with all of that great Rock N Roll Soul.
