It turns out that "our boys" *did*, in fact, hold their press conference this past Wednesday. I don't know any other details except that it was held. So, you may want to watch M-TV, VH-1, E!, Entertainment Tonight, or whatever your favorite source of music news might be to see if it gets any national press cover- age. And, if anybody *does* find out when it will be broadcast -- I WANT A TAPE!!! It seems that the band was also in the studio last week -- the broadcast studio -- to record the radio ads for the Auburn Hills concert. This "reliable source" says that they should be airing on WCSX in Detroit soon. Concert rehersals are scheduled to be- gin in Traverse City soon and Mark, Don, and Mel should be em- barking on a radio-station tour to promote the concerts in each of the three concert venue areas. And, I have heard it from two different sources now that the Auburn Hills show will be the biggest -- in more ways than one -- of the three. So, if there's any way you can be in Auburn Hills, MI (just outside of Detroit) the weekend of April 20th -- be there! Well that's about it from your friendly, neighborhood rumor- monger today. Yes, I wish we were all going to the same show, but that probably isn't going to happen. My plans still remain the same. I'm going to try to get tickets for all three shows just in case I can't get them for my first and/or second choice. Absolutely, Funkola! Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. this com- ing Friday at the Palace (I don't know about Ticketmaster). It has been reported to be available from several Japanese/import sources -- I believe it's listed as being available on my Trading Post page at my GFR site. Personally, I just went to Camelot Mu- sic this weekend and saw that they had this CD listed in an EMI release, so I ordered it -- we'll see if it was really available when it comes in! :-) Both EMI and Collector's Pipeline have, in the past, had many of the Grand Funk releases available on CD. But, with the re- union, I don't think they are producing any new units -- just selling what they have in stock. Take care, grok in fullness ... Yes, I wrote a book about UNIX -- they didn't run a second printing, sales were a little light, it's a little hard to come by now -- but, I wrote it and another book on Motif pro- gramming. I've had a few questions on my "grok in fullness" closing. Now *you* know that, with a little exploring, one can find an ex- planation on most anything. ;-) BTW, just so I don't violate my own "rule" and post something completely off-topic, let me add a little Funk content. You've all seen the intro from David Staats -- well, he sent me some pictures. I've scanned 10 of them in and spread them across three different pages, so you may want to drop by and check them out. Now, I'm not going to tell you *exactly* where they are -- how else can I get all of you to explore my site? Take care and, to be a little different but from the same source, never thirst ... I bet you ordered cake at the restaurant. You had cake and ate it too...a Grand Funk concert, then meeting Mark & Mel right after, wow! Great job! Once saw Mark in '89 at a small club/bar near my home in Seaside Heights, NJ. Stood right in front of him for the whole show. There were only about 100 people there. I wasn't fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet him though. Maybe you could share your other meetings with Mark with us in the near future. Welcome to the list!
