It's always nice to see "new" pictures of our boys! I've got one of Mark and the Funky Funkettes where Mark is sandwiched by both of them and he's grabbing one of their asses! It's a pretty small picture and my copy is too trashed to be scanned in. If anyone's got a good copy of this one they should have it scanned in. Classic Farner being the Babe Magnet that he is!!! I play the guitar but I'm not that good. One of my favorite solos is the Footstompin' Music solo. And of course In Need, the whole thing from when he's playin' with the boys and the *real* solo! I also really like the GRINDING lead he plays on Inside Lookin' Out from the LIVE ALBUM. Man, can that boy play with feeling! Those are a couple of my favorites. I really like his guitar work on Born To Die also, like at the end of "Dues" and when he swaps licks with the sax on "Talk To The People". Well, I don't seem to receive these mails after I > post them ... The list is currently configured so that when you reply to the sender, your reply message will go to the person who made the original post -- not the list. If you want to make your reply visible to the list at large, then you should choose the reply- to-all option. The advantage of this method is that if you decide that you want to carry on a private conversation with someone, then there's nothing too difficult to do. And, the side benefit is that the list won't be cluttered with unnecessary personal commu- nication. The other advantage is that, since you have to think twice about a particular message going out for a second, you have a chance to decide whether it really needs to go to the entire list. The disadvantage of this message is that the person you are replying to may get two copies of the message -- the one you are sending and the one that comes through the list. This set-up reflects a personal preference I have from my ex- perience with seven or eight different mailing lists that I have belonged to through my years on the Internet. When people want to flame or argue, they actually have to think about it a minute to get it sent to the list and seen in public. It is my opinion that these few seconds of second thought often are enough to calm a person down enough to re-think about whether their post really needs to be seen by the entire list. It is just *my* personal preference though. If enough folks holler loud and long enough, I *might* be persuaded to change my mind and the list configuration. :-) So Phil, the long and the short of it is, choose the reply-to- all option or, as I do, modify the headers before you hit send. Some of my favorite songs are "T.N.U.C." (On Time and Live Album versions, due to the awesome drum solos by Don), "Into the Sun", "In Need", "Inside Looking Out", "Mean Mistreater", "Closer To Home", "Country Road", "People, Let's Stop the War", "Trying to Get Away", "To Get Back In", "Responsibility", "Politician", and "Can You Do It". However, if someone was pointing a gun at my head and told me I absolutely had to choose one favorite song, it would have to be: "In Need". I love Mark's intro guitar riff, the ending guitar solo, the incredible bass sound from Mel, etc. I get the same thrill and excitement each and every time that I hear this song! Round of applause for Jeff and his press kits, especially the Good Singin' stuff. But one thing still baffles me. It seems like everyone was so pumped up after they released that album...they were ready to tour, they were gonna continue on forever, the band members were getting along great, they had great respect for each other, both musically and business-wise...and then bam...they brake up! What the hell happened??? Does anyone know the real story? I'm not sure we'll ever know the *real* story. I've heard several different versions. But something that sticks in my mind is an interview with Farner last spring and he said something like Don Brewer was instrumental, or a big reason, for Grand Funk's break up. I had never heard that before. And what, quite frankly, does it mean? Can anyone shed any light on this disturbing subject. Well, this subject is disturbing to me, I don't know if it's disturbing to anyone else. It disturbs me because I was such a die-hard fan at the time (of course still am but it's all different now) and it absolutely broke my heart. It was like losing a loved one! And then to never really know what the hell happened. It's like one of those closure things. That's all I ever wanted was closure! I totally understand that these things happen, but just tell me why... And then when Flint came out, man some of those lyrics on there are pretty harsh and I can only come to the conclusion that they're singing to Farner like he was the bad guy. Such lines as... "You're on another road, how could you get down so low?" "You made your bed, and now you find it hard to sleep" "You're gonna have to learn, I know you're gonna burn" "I only wish I never called you my friend" "You'll never be the same" Does anyone else agree, or am I all wet?
