  • OK!!!!! lets see if anyone is awake out there. I want Mel and Don to not renew contracts with Max and Bruce, and I like both of them allot and respect there musical abilities. BUT, I am not happy with the situation in which they caused the new version of GFR to not release new live materiel. So I think Mel and Don should reunite the Original GFR. Maybe only then will we get a new concert released on DVD, and also the old video materiel out. Its NOW or Never. I think Don and Mel sign the two, for two years at a time. So when is it up?????? They are booking for next year already, so maybe there signed for next year?????

Sadly, Rick, I believe it's "never."  The only way the three (four?) original members of Grand Funk Railroad will ever get together again is if the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame inducts our favorite band -- and as we all know that's yet another "never."

The current incarnation of the Best Band in the Land has been touring and playing together for almost eleven straight years -- more than any previous version of the band.  Mark seems happy "owning his stage," "controlling his performance," and having his hardcore fans tell him  he *IS* Grand Funk Railroad (even if he isn't legally allowed to do so).  The current band members (whether under contract or not) seem happy with the flexibility they have to pursue other projects and their popularity and acceptance at current shows.

With everybody so happy and comfortable with the current status quo, Does it make sense to go back to the uncomfortable and hard feelings of the past.  I think not, my friend.  Perhaps we should let "sleeping dogs lie," and be happy that we have "Bottle Rocket" and a new cover song in "Second Chance."

    Funkingly yours,

    Bill.
