  • I know it's a pretty well-hashed subject, but fun nonetheless. List your top-ten favourite GFR tunes. The solo criteria is that these are YOUR favourite songs; nothing else.

    Here's mine:

    (1) I'm Your Captain
    (2) In Need
    (3) Anybody's Answer (bet noone else picks this)
    (4) Bad Time
    (5) Heartbreaker
    (6) Locomotion (live version - never liked the studio one)
    (7) Gimme Shelter
    (8) T.N.U.C.
    (9) Crossfire
    (10) People, Let's Stop the War.

Anyone else? BTW, I probably forgot some favourite that should be here. I'll remember it ten seconds after posting this.  :)

And my number eight comes out as a (8).

  • A few years late to the party here....

Been a GFR fan since the age of 10 back in 1969.  Listening to Brewer taught me a lot as I was learning the drums.  Still drumming in a classic hard rock band....and talked our guitar player into doing a few GFR tunes.

Tough call on my favourite GFR tunes....but I'll pick one off every original line-up studio album, which makes it a Top 11 list.

    Into the Sun
    In Need
    Nothing is the Same
    Country Road
    I Come Tumblin'
    I Just Gotta Know
    Ain't Got Nobody
    Please Me
    Wild
    Politician
Out to Get You  (Zappa respected GFR...and his performance on this tune, as always, is phenomenal)

Wow!  A new member that is really a GFR fan!  And a drummer to boot!!

From one drummer to another, let me say welcome to "roadkill."  We haven't had any real GFR posts in over a year (and that was by me while in a "funk" of a mood).  We have 5 or 6 readers per day but no one seems to want to post anymore.  So reading you was a breath of fresh air!

That was a good "top 10/11 list."  Some of my favorites are in there.  You're right about Zappa.

Anyway ... welcome, welcome, welcome! May your drumming be filled with excellent triplets.  And, as always, grok in fullness ...
