OK some of my memories (forgive the typos) it was December 1969 and my cousin Val was playing music for us, including Grand Funk Railroad -On Time. Well that was it, I just fell in love with their sound right the and there. Was a HUGE fan for the next 30 years. Soon THE RED ALBUM was out and that was even beter in ways, and CLOSER TO HOME, and LIVE soon followed. I probably listened to GFR at least 330 days a year the next 30 years if not more.

I was to young to go to a GFR concert so when the inconert came on I was so excited BUT alas I could not stay awake, My brother tried everything to get me up, even poured water on me  lol. So I THANK GOD we all finally got to have copies of it supplied by Donna W and Steve L.

I remember in 1977 to 79 I was in a huge Good Singin Good Playing mode, I would play it every day after school and do my-homework, up in my room, with the window slightly open and the ocean breeze coming in. Also I remember Marks solo stuff and Flint comming out. I liked Marks stuff but all my friends though it was wimpy. Lots of rock-arguments ensued LOL. Then

We heard GFR was comming back in 1980 but I never saw that they were doing a concert in LA, Maybe they did and I just missed it. I liked both whats funk and Lives allot. I also grew to like Flint, when it first came out it was to R&B for me. Now I love both those albums, I hope the 2ed unreleased one comes out on CD as well.

Mark CCM, I remember Marks first Christian rock album comming out and it rocked, Its his best solo album. And finally I got to see Mark live a bunch of times in Calif and NV. Mark always put on a good show, and mixed the GFR with his CCM stuff. Got to meet Mark on occasion in those times as well.

Then came the reunion, it was a dream come true. One of my big memories from the reunion was driving into the Greek theater in 97 and seeing thousands of people there to see GFR, I almost cried. That was so cool. Got to see GFR (Marl, Don and Mel) 5 times before the next break up, those were good times.

Heard GFR first in 1971 "I Don't Have To Sing The Blues"...and was hooked. Bought all their albums.....They broke up...I got old.....found them again in 1997...Joined the Roadkill mailing list....Was at the two Atlanta shows 1998. Took my son to the Chastain Park show. Met some good Roadkillers. Anybody know where I can get a copy of the Roadkill group photo taken after the first Atlanta show?

It's great to be back!!

Another cool GFR memory of mine  is in Feb 2001 I flew (and yes my arms are tired) into Michagan to see GFR at the palace at Alburn Hills. I got to hang out with many GFR fans, We went to the train bridge in Flint (Mark, Don and Mel) and the show was great. After the show we had a birthday for Mel (about 4 days early) and it was wondful. Everyone had a great time.

Rick

PS MELs birthday is Tommorrow!

Another memory I have is in 1999 we did a FUNKfest in Vegas that was timed out with a Mark Farner solo concert at Texas station. Marks show had a great set list, comfort me, Don't let em take your gun, etc., his band was ok he was great. Before then show we all met at a bar in the Texas station and had fun. After the show Steve Lisuk came over to my house and we watched the Bosnia show from Alburn hills, while we watched that show he allowed me to copy the in concert show, Donna W also sent me a copy and that's were almost all of us got our copy's. BTW; The Bosnia show was great, I did not see any problems with it, I wish I could of got a copy if it. The next day we all met at the micro brewery at the Motecarlo and had a good funkfest. Bill was there, who was there any memories?   ::)
